but are the kids learning enough? if not, what is the problem and what do we do about it? i know a retired teacher who says it’s not unions or teachers or parents who are at fault. he blames poverty. any thoughts on that out there?

Oh please, Ms. Lewis, come to New York City and kick Bloomberg’s butt. I hate how they are trying to privatize the schools. It’s wrong. Education is the LAST thing that should be run by a corporation, but that’s what all higher education is now. It must stop. It’s going to make all education down the road unaffordable to Americans. NO corporation or state SHOULD PROFIT from teaching children. It is a necessity and our duty.
