Millenial Madness

Bush’s imperial foreign policy is doomed to repeat a sordid history.

By David Moberg

History is likely to judge George W. Bush’s response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks as follows: He squandered a unique opportunity for global cooperation on international security in favor of a unilateralist and imperialist foreign policy that aggravated terrorism, undermined American world leadership and increased global instability. That’s already the dominant viewpoint in most of the world, and the American people… return to article

But they’ll steal it again.  These people don’t go down gracefully or honestly. It took them far to long to get into power, and they’ll hold on no matter what.  So, what to do if Kerry loses?  Thoughts many of us share:

    WHAT IF KERRY LOSES?

    TvNewsLIES.org CONSIDERS THE UNTHINKABLE

The US election draws ever nearer, and the rest of the world bangs its head against the floorboards screaming “Please God, not Bush!” Charlie Brooker, UK

The next few nights will be sleepless ones, for sure.  In a little more than a week, either John Kerry or George W. Bush will be elected President of the United States for the next for years.  And I’m worried.

The 2000 election seems like yesterday.  I can still feel the despair as the Supreme Court selected the new leader of our nation, and the world applauded Al Gore for his gracious acquiescence. Oh well, - next time around, we thought.  We’ll survive the four years, and fight back harder next time.  I Guess what? It’s next time now, and I’m really, really worried.

Who could have predicted the disaster we’ve just lived through?  Who could have foreseen the totality of the catastrophic years of the Bush/PNAC/Religious Right administration?  Phrases come to mind: war and pestilence, death and disorder, repression and fascism.  Memories push their way into my head: Rice warning of a mushroom cloud, Powell lying through his teeth, Cheney promising a cake walk.  And of course, in my head I see a dozen images of George Bush: orchestrated, staged, rehearsed, and programmed, yet stumbling and faltering through a haze of practiced sound bites. Yeah, I’m really, really worried.

Four years of absolute failure, and half the nation cheers wildly. Four years of failed wars, failed economics, failed everything, - and half the nation bows in adoration.  You have to believe they just don’t know, and that’s about right. How could they know? The media played wild and loose with the truth.  The press corps went underground. And Rove’s Rangers were everywhere, swearing to Dick Cheney’s unending lies.  So half the nation is enamored of the man whose God makes policy decisions for him.  And that worries me even more.

There has to be a Plan B, just in case John Kerry loses.

Hey Reg - Wouldn’t it be a *riot* if GWB gets re-elected and the crazies on the left take up arms against the government? The irony, of course, being that while we are trying to install a democracy in that hellhole Iraq, ours falls apart as a consequence.

Anarchy all around! Just what the left loves! It would be so very perfect. . .

If reggie’s worst fears are actually realized, I wouldn’t be surprized. But armed insurrection is not the answer. Non-violent actions and tactics have so far proven to be the only successful means to defeat tyranny. I only hope and pray that there’s a new Rev.Dr.Martin Luther King or Gandhi waiting in the wings.(and I don’t think his name would be Jackson or Sharpton).Even if Kerry wins, massive peaceful protests may be necessary if Mr.Kerry decides to follow Bush’s corporate/elitist agenda. After all, they both are bonesmen, aren’t they?

and you can count on us bored college freshman to join ya.  We have nothing else to do with our lives, except play video games and quote tv shows, so count on us.  Count on our procrastinating mass to take up arms and end up shooting the first thing that moves.

ARmed Revolution? Anarchy?  These are any 19 year old’s dream-goals.  But are they truly feasible?  WE’re going to have to think this through guys. think of Plato’s hierarchy of government.  After Democracy, comes Tyranny.  And NO, not the kind we have now, but the one where an oppressed mass takes over and for the purpose of the common good begins to deny the rich rights.  Eventually, it figures it can do the same with us and maybe we’ll end up being the next truly Totalitarian power.

    Non-violent protest is Key.

But, who knows, maybe armed revolution is the answer.  AFter all, it’ll give us something to do.

This is what happens when you try to have democracy without ostracism. The rich and powerful can just take over again. What has been missing from all modern democratic institutions that would allow rich and powerful people who turn into enemies of democracy to be exiled or executed.

If this elections seems to be rigged like the last I have already set up a group of 15 or less to help with the NON-VIOLENT (in caps because it is important) disruptions.  If anyone wants to do something it is really simple.  Get enough people tp block a street and go sit down at a red light.  Have a few signs and water and food.  People will be pissed but hey, so am I.  You will be assualted, and very likely it will be an officer who assualts you.  Just take it.  It might not be worth it but its damn worth a try.  If it doesn’t work, hey, there’s always Canada or Mexico….
