Yeah, I agree. I will admit I got the dates wrong on Iran, I don’t have a problem admitting when I got the wrong info. But I was not “wrong” with that Campesino. He just never could get the drift of how the Republican policies leading up to the Great Depression caused that disaster. I have only been saying that this Admin. is doing the same thing over again. I’m sure you understood that.
As usual, they twist everything. You’re right, they will destroy themselves. And also, I will not respond to them anymore either. It’s pointless. It’s not why I come on here. I want to know more facts to arm myself with, not play stupid games with people I have no respect for.
Here’s to the pigs leaving with their asshats. Time will reveal all, wwoods, and we will be correct, I have no doubt.

wwoods, the big, wide key at the bottom center of your keyboard is called the spacebar. You can use it to put spaces between sentences and between punctuation marks and the following word.
I’ve also noticed that logical arguments don’t work.
Facts would help your arguments, as would a reevaluation of what you consider logic. Repetition doesn’t create reality. That would be illogical. Getting your facts wrong and insisting that they’re right just makes you look foolish, like Digby does in this poor excuse for an article.
Maggie, tell me a story about President Carter and the Republican dominated filibustering Congress. Pleeeease?

I respectfully disagree. I believe what you said was that we’re headed for a fascist government in this country and that the conditions in the US now are very like those in Weimar Germany and that that is why people equate Bush with Hitler. I was merely trying to make a fact-based assertion of why I don’t think that is so.
I would agree with you that the Republican administrations probably helped to cause the Great Depression. My point was that bad economic conditions that set the stage for a fascist government in Germany did not do so here.
I think that it is very difficult to equate the actions of the Harding/Coolidge/Hoover administrations with those of the current one. Conditions in the world and the country are just so different. In the 20s, Federal budgets were mostly in balance, we were at peace and defense spending was so low as to be almost negligible - in fact government spending was much lower percentage of GDP than today. Our economy was much less integrated with the rest of the world than today. It is very different today.
Also then we didn’t have the same economic buffering and governing mechanisms that were erected during the Depression. Like Federal Reserve, FDIC, FTC, SEC, etc. Those have kept all the post-WWII recessions from augering in to a 1929-1932 pattern.
So I would disagree with you to the extent that I don’t think that Bush is doing what 1920s Republicans did on economic policy. That said, there are many things that this administration does on economic policy that I don’t like, and it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility that we could hit another recession soon. I think that the most likely result of that would be another Democrat in the White House in the next election.

Margaret,
As I suspected,Pablo would try to bait me.Statements about punctuation and using a space bar, pathetic.
Nonetheless, you can see how right-wingers need someone to fight with and attempt to generate conflict.I hope someone builds a sandbox in his neighborhhod soon
He is right about repetition not equalling reality.I wish he could only see the blaring irony of his remarks.I also wish he had addressed any of the points I made, beyond simply refuting without counterargument.

Yeah, they’re pretty easy to figure out.
It’s great to get back to discussing issues and facts relevant to a progressive agenda, wwoods. That is, after all, why we come here. Appreciate the many facts and insights you, Merlin, Claire and the other intelligent progressives post.

Campesino,
I will answer you because you’re not acting like some nut case boiling over with rage.
I respectfully disagree about the end result of the current Administration’s overall policy book in regard to the economy. While there are buffers, it seems the Congress is in a huge hurry to tear them down. If Brown, Myers, etc. get into the courts, especially the Supreme, a marriage of Republican conservatism and Libertarianism (Brown is the real deal) will result in the destruction of many of the checks and balances.
While you may not agree, I think that time will be the judge.
Thank you for you courteous tone.

Great to see the LGF crowd here. Quilly (he’s not a lawyer. he only plays one on the internet), Pablo aka Powderfinger, Jheka aka blitz, and the rest of the sorry lot.
The LGF lizards, like all cowards, like to travel in packs.
