Two Faces of GOP Hate
By Hans Johnson
On the surface, Shawn Stuart and Ralph Reed have little in common, other than their quest for public office this year as Republicans. But, Stuart, a bona fide Nazi running for state representative in Montana, and Reed, who has repeatedly appealed to antigay and racist bias as Georgia GOP chair and hopes to become lieutenant governor, share an intimate bond.… return to article

Reader Comments (87)Page 1 of 1 pagesGreat comment Julycanute,
You are correct, liberals are destroying the Democratic Party. I am a strong Republican and we see it plain as day.
During the 2004 election, we loved it when Michael Moore and the Hollywood left opened their mouth. The more that the far-left was in the spotlight, the more I knew that Bush was going to win. And it will happen again.
Look at Air America radio. I listen to it, to hear for myself what they are saying. Randi Rhodes, Stephanie Miller, Bill Press are horrible. If you want to hear hate, just listen to those radio programs. On the other hand, Ed Schultz and Al Franken are not that bad. I actually like those two guys.
If you listen to talk radio, and I mean really listen to it, not just take someone comments off the internet about it ... then you know this. The far left tries to paint O’Reilly, Rush, Hannity as Hate-Mongers and they don’t let anyone talk. Now that is just flat wrong, all 3 programs constantly have guest on that have different views and they let them talk.
On the other hand, I never hear any opposing guest on Stephanie Miller, Bill Press or Randi Rhodes.
The old Democratic Party is gone, it has been hi-jacked by the far-left.
Posted by tina1 on Jun 30, 2006 at 12:57 PM Judy and Tina, you are both uneducated crackers! Your reasoning is convaluted and stupid. Christians do not offend Jews. Most Jews could care less what Christians believe. Most people can care less what Holiday greeting people use and this whole thing about Jews trying to take Christ out of Christmas is hystierical ignorance. It is an attempt to bring a wedge issue out to cause hate and divide people. If gays offend Chistians than it is because these Christians like Judy are woefully ignorant! In addition, Judy, you are a liar and a fraud. No Jews would ever move to AK to get a bunch of southern rednecks to respect society’s diversity by saying happy holidays because they would be in mortal danger if they did so. I read the NYT article. They don’t try to secularize Christmas. They are involved in charities in the Bentonville area according to many other articles and you don’t mention that information. Jews are very sensitive to Christians trying to convert them so their actions sometimes mirror their justified fears of this problem. Many Christians refuse to accept the existance of other faiths. This whole Christmas issue is a signiture right-wing wedge issue. It is hateful and ignorant. You also make stupid generalizations about liberals hating Christians and Southerners when we really just hate uneducated redneck morons. There is a big difference! In addition, if the Democratic Party was really “hijacked by the far left” they certainly would have stood up to Bush a lot more than they have so far!
Posted by cabdriverinchicago on Jun 30, 2006 at 8:44 PM The right wing uses race to mobilise a mass base for a program that no-one in their right mind would support. Theft from ordinary working peole (confiscation of Pension funds and the like), falling real wages and lack of health care all has to be busily camoflaged. What better way than to froth at the mouth over race and sexuality. Someone once said that anti semitism is the socialism of fools. Judging by the posts above, we have the socialism of utter idiots!
Posted by Jane Doe on Jul 1, 2006 at 2:27 AM Hans, folks, please....Really. Stop it....come on now.
I am from what in today’s terms y’all would call the right. Regardless, I am no fan of anything Ralph Greed has to offer. In fact, Greed is losing his Lt Gov bid here in Georgia because he is TOO Liberal, too into big DC Style politics. Plus his past is so rotten it makes maggots on a carcas look like a tasty spread for a sandwich.
While I don’t see how being anti gay lifestyle, anti abortion, pro Christian can be considered being anywhere near ‘hate’, I can say a sizable portion of very conservative Georgians have tied huge bolders to Greed;s feet and tossed him overboard.
In fact Hans, you talk of Greeds use of a Confederate Flag in 2002, I couldn’t find anything about it online, but I’ll take your word. He has ticked off the Confederate Flag loving crowd by making comments against it. The last 3 of 4 private Greed fundraising events had more Confederate Flag waving people present AGAINST him at his own events than he had paying supporters
Bash him if you want, I’ll help by voting against him, but PLEASE stop trying to speak as if you are some kind of expert. I mean, after all, you wrote this story and missed this key bit of information - right....
Thanks & God Bless
Posted by GeorgiaFlagger on Jul 1, 2006 at 6:51 AM Well, actually, it’s a socialism of the rich who, like Rupert Murdoch and Melonhead Scaife, fund fools like “Flush” Limbaugh and “Loofa” O’Reilly who exploit the hatred and resentment of fundamentalists who correctly conclude that liberalism has rendered obsolete their most cherished rationalizations for the poverty and ignorance they endure.
Posted by Major Major on Jul 1, 2006 at 6:53 AM Morons,
The reason “liberals,” and any thinking persons, for that matter, are angry with Republicans is because - through sheer mental illness - they have allowed extremists to destroy our country: torture, mass murder, incompetence, ridiculous arrogance, xenophobia, extreme bigotry, massive corruption, neo-facist policies, reversals of essential elements of the bill of rights....do I really need to go on? If anything, people are not being hateful enough towards retardlicans. It’s this lack of outrage that has allowed this crap to happen to our country. Republicans have not paid anywhere near the price they should be paying for what they have done to our country. Republicans spew vile because they are lunatics. But non-lunatics should at least be as vocal because we all have seriously legimate reasons to despise them. It’s clear that republicans will lie, distort, and try to enforce their twisted views on normal people. It doesn’t mean that we should back away from them.
P.S. Julycanute....."strong democrat”.....Ha!
Posted by drphonic on Jul 2, 2006 at 3:04 AM I think we can all agree that the liberals pushed the envelope of change beyond the bounds of social acceptance. So what? That, by default, is the definition of social change. Education is the universal solvent, which is why the conservatives are so hell-bent on restricting its availability to the people who can best “afford and appreciate” it. Nobody likes being told they’re racist, or sexist, anti-semitic or homophobic, especially when the economic fallout is severe. Eventually the demagogues roll in and say, “No, no, we’re not racists after all. We’re just ordinary law-abiding, God-fearing citizens of the greatest nation in the history of the world, and the people who criticize us are mentally-impaired malcontents and atheistic traitors to their country.” It’s obvious that the conservatives will do whatever it takes to obtain and retain political power, even if it means attacking the social institutions which benefit all of us. In five or ten years, when confronted with the results of their economic incompetence (welfare “reform”, social security, mandatory minimum sentencing, tax breaks for the rich), they’ll blame the liberals (once again), and pretend that the policy reversals they subsequently legislate just make good common conservative sense.
What a bunch of wankers.

Per pupil spending in inflation adjusted dollars has increased from $4,479 in 1971 to $8,996 in 2001, according to the Department of Education.
Who controls education in America? LIBERALS
The Teachers Union is the largest union in America. Did you see John Stossel’s story on public schools? John Stossel’s ‘Stupid in America’
http://abcnews.go.com/2020/Stossel/story?id=1500338
What about Gov. Jeb Bush’s voucher plan? This program would allow poor children from bad schools to attend PRIVATE SCHOOLS ... AND WHO OPPOSED IT? Voucher opponents included the state teachers union, the Florida PTA, the NAACP and the League of Women Voters.
Only LIBERALS were opposed to it.
Fla. Court Strikes Down School Vouchers
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Jan 6, 2006 (AP)— The Florida Supreme Court struck down a statewide voucher system Thursday that allowed children to attend private schools at taxpayer expense a program Gov. Jeb Bush considered one of his proudest achievements.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/LegalCenter/wireStory?id=1477370
SO ANYONE WHO SAYS THAT THE REPUBLICANS WANT TO HOLD BACK POOR PEOPLE FOR EDUCATION IS AN IDIOT AND DOESN’T KNOW THE FACTS !!!
Read the facts STUPID !!!!
You really are IGNORANT !!!
Posted by tina1 on Jul 2, 2006 at 3:22 PM The Bush administration has proposed to cut 48 federally funded programs from the education budget, for a total savings of 4.3 billion dollars. “Virtually all 48 programs ... are intended to educate children, young adults and college students who are disabled, economically disadvantaged, limited English-proficient and even illiterate.”
“The President wants to replace these programs with $1.5 billion to hold high schools ‘accountable’ (police and punish, not help) for teaching and providing ‘intervention’ for ‘non-performing’ students. He also plans to give teachers business-style bonuses of $500 million to improve test scores. The remaining $300 million will be invested in high-end academics as Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses, and a Math/Science ‘Partnership’ program.”
So, the “Education President” wants to cut $4.3 billion and spend $2.3 billion, for a grand total of minus $2 billion. His enlightened generosity is legendary.
As for the private schools, well, I work in the maintenance department of a private school in the midwest, where the annual tuition ranges from $11,000 for lower school students to $17,000 for upper school students. Scholarships are occasionally provided for disadvantaged students, but these are not the schools the conservatives hope to subsidize. The wingers want to replace a public education system with a charter education system where religious indoctrination is federally funded at taxpayer expense, and the average state proficiency scores are lower than those of the schools they were intended to displace. Moreover, most of the charter schools are either exempt from or in violation of teacher cerification standards and plant maintenance building codes.
But I do agree with you on your principal assertion: “holding back poor people for education” is indeed “considered one of [Bush’s] proudest achievements.”
Posted by Major Major on Jul 2, 2006 at 10:00 PM Tina finally has a friend , Julycanute....two dummies for the price of one...Isn’t it intersesting that issues as meaningless and relatively trivial as “ gay marriage “ and “Christmas “would bring out so much visceral responses… Think about this Julycanute , we are all illegal immigrants...did you get permission to settle on land from the aboriginal population ; I guess not....Second....this economy will die...without the labor that the so-called illegals bring...many of these immigrant are in fact decendant to the aboriginal population that was displaced in the first place....Seedy Reedy and Stuppy Stewart walk and talk like fascist Nazis..so you ask , what that makes liberals.. I’m not sure what you mean by that statement....maybe “ free thinkers “....You thought you were liberal ?? So now Dath Vater has seduced you ...my guess you were a Nazi sympathizer all along
Now it is time for Redhorse to make a living , you keep those nero-minded musing boiling till I return...OK.......
Posted by Redhorse on Jul 3, 2006 at 6:10 AM The fact is, that in the here and now we have laws in this country. I’m not so worried about nice, Mexican families coming here and picking tomatoes as I am about thousands of these families coming here, being “bought” by either the Dems or Repubs, and becoming fully americanized by whining for social services and other various government handouts.
Furthermore, Americans can easily afford a 2% increase on their produce in order for an american to make a living as an agricultural worker (but that woudn’t be glam enough for americans, now would it?).
In addition, if it’s easy for a Mexican teenager to cross the border, how about a terrorist? THAT is why we have the laws now. You nor I nor Julycanute were around to steal land from the so-called “aboriginals” (where did THEY come from, by the way?) That truly has nothing to do with the issue of what is illegal today.
Another point related to the article, it’s quite possible to be against homosexual marriage and not hate and despise homosexuals. I’m against gay marriage, but couldn’t care less if someone is gay.
Let’s also not forget that we’re free to hate and desprse anyone we want to in this country so long as you don’t commit a crime. That is, until even thoughts become crimes.
Posted by winterchestnut on Jul 3, 2006 at 2:21 PM You don’t get it ... more money isn’t the answer, if money was the answer then America would have the smarted students. Obviously you will have a hard time understanding this.
I wonder why ......
Posted by tina1 on Jul 3, 2006 at 3:12 PM Winterchestnut....The only whiners I see , are folks like yourself....you have no problem with sharecropping poor immigrants for ...what 50 cents an hour...but when the same immigrants , man up and make a go of life in amerika , you got a problem....That has got to be the most bigot filled , xenophobic statement yet....Winterchest-NUT , such a pretty name...for the most ugly of ideas....The so-called fore-father’s of this country felt the same way about afrikans in amerika ; as long as they had sugar for their afternoon tea...everything was cool...but when afrikan people moved for freedom from servitude....oh no ...not that...not those people....Ms. NUT , look in the mirror...if it doesn’t crack...an assessment of your charater is in order....As far as border crossings , not to many Mexican teenagers come from Canada...your 9/11 commission said that Canada is the most likely crossing point for terrorists...And yes , you are right , none of us where here for the stealing of property from aboriginal populations...my ancestors were in chains or in afrika....yours were either serfs in europe or maybe small landowners here, base on your attitude , I’m sure you wish they were slave owners, but regardless of the class status at the time, you profit now , right....so why not others....Now your last point about Gay people...It rings just like your first statement....BIGOTED.....Good day......
p.s....Slavery was legal..so was denying women the right to vote..laws don’t make morality , morality is suppose too make the laws...The emotion that is hate...is violence...it is impossible too hate someone without wishing them harm , you sound like that is some exclusive right of amerikans...although I’m sure you practice your hate with much Gusto...you , Nathead and Tinhead Tina should have tea sometime....
Posted by Redhorse on Jul 3, 2006 at 4:00 PM Let’s face it there are scum bags in both parties. We fight and bicker amongst ourselves and the same old same old keep getting elected. We need to stop being a partisan bunch, and vote with our consience. I for one will cross party lines to vote for the candidate that stands up for what I believe. It’s not about left or right, it is about right and wrong.
Posted by robin 45 on Jul 3, 2006 at 4:03 PM robin45...Believe or belief is not enough.....Redhorse believed in Santa and Jesus as real historical personalities at one point in his life..but the truth is , both are myths...The question is...” What do you know ? “
I believed she loved me...but the truth was...she didn’t...People believe all kinds of things...and then they go on Jerry Springers show...and find another belief......
In 1492 folks in europe believed the world was FLAT...but with maps & charts supplied by afrikans from the Guinea coast...Columbus proved otherwise....
Amerikans believe Columbus discovered the Amerikas...but how can you discover a land mass that is already inhabited...That candidate...like say...Bush...can get you to BELIEVE in him...but look at the MESS that fool has brought....with his..."Beliefs."....
This I KNOW........
Posted by Redhorse on Jul 3, 2006 at 4:12 PM Well I believe is being first and foremost TRUE to my own set of values and beliefs. Like immigration, my mother is an Italian American, and she came here legally. She learned English, raised 7 kids and worked like a dog. American’s need to be tolerant of other people but a person can only go so far. If you embrace the likes of those people who condone illegial immigrants, then you are flat out wrong. PERIOD. No gray area there, legal or illegial. My mom became a citizen at 19 and she has never needed a hand out. Yes, a hand UP but not a hand out. As far as gay marriage goes where do we begin? And where does it end? I am open to ideas on that subject. But if I say I disagree with gay marriage then I am a bigot, if I agree with it then does that make me any more or less right? While were at it let’s condone plural marriages. As long as all parties agree (Playing what if here). I believe in the right to human life { pro life,) and I am opposed to the death penalty
Posted by robin 45 on Jul 3, 2006 at 4:31 PM TinaToon the loony one...It is interesting that you say Republicans are out front on education...when we have...possibly the dumbest President the nation has ever seen...maybe Hoover...but he was more a coward . Actually I think vouchers can be useful on a case by case basis...But your boys want to abolish the Dept. of. Education , why , so we can be as dumb as you...I think it has more to do with the fact that public education as a concept , came from the Freedman bureau during reconstruction time . Your hate for anything that smells “ LIBERAL “ and the fact that with vouchers , corporate Fascists can now start charter school programs that teach the so-called minority children about a “ white ,benevolent Jesus and indoctrinate them with right-wing christian non-values of greed and hate for ones self...plus make a pretty profit , to boot....Socialism for the rich.....Capitalism for everyone else....We all know , who butters your bread...but will you get too eat it....
If the oligarchy had it completely there way...none of use would be able to read your stupid posting...and tell you what a boob you are...but see, education (public) has allowed you and me to communicate...aren’t you happy about that...you seemed quite upset with Major Major...you said you are alway Happy...so be happy _ITCH.....
If anything public education should be federally funded , so that every school from daycare centers to high schools get the same money...the way thinks are done now is too local , not transparent enough...a fool like you can get on a school board and screw things up...easily....also the curriculm needs to be updated to include everyones contributions to society ; as is now , folks thing Sir Isaac Newton invented Calculas , when the truth is Inhotep did the trick 3000 years earlier ...and AP coures should be pushed on all students even if they fail...just let them try again...that IS how people learn...trial an error....then success....o...my bad...I forgot I was communicating with someone who does not care ...my bad tinatoon...I now how common sense boors you......peasant
DAMN.! !...I feel real HAPPY..! !. Does that mean I’m a Neo-Con Fascist Republican like you ? ?
Posted by Redhorse on Jul 3, 2006 at 5:22 PM robin45...Your momma may have gotten to the great shores of amerika...legally, but a lot of other europeans did not...what do you think WOP stands for...WithOut Papers.....Other than a few winnos...and corporate amerika...I don’t know anybody who is looking for a hand out...Please explain...?
I could give a rats ass who or what anybody marries...if it floats their boat..and they don’t hurt anybody....it ain’t my business…
Ya know , I just don’t get people like yourself, why are you so scared of immigrants and this whole thing about a hand out as opposed too a hand up...sounds like some kind of petty word game...to hide your real feelings...What are you ...so prideful that you think everyone that’s south of the border is not worthy...the amerikas incompass anything from the Canadian border due south , didn,t you learn Geography in school...you see...we have North Amerika...then we have Central Amerika....and then there is South Amerika...you see we are all in Amerika...so get off your high horse and get a life…
If anyone should be pissed , it’s me...my ancestors have been on this continent way before Columbus granddaddy knew where too put in...then the god-awful slave trade didn’t even give afrikans a choice , afrikans , asians , and indigenous people built this nation without a thank you ( from you or anybody )or a decent reference in the history books...so I’m cool with immigrants...you see...I see them as my brothers and sisters...not “ those people “…
If anything you sound like the one that expects a certian entitlement…
benevolent privileges bestowed because of status and not deeds…
I bet your momma would be quite at odds with your views these days…
Immigrant...how do you know she didn’t jump ship and steal away...With Out Papers
Italian-Amerikan...must be part of the Mafia...you related too Capone...organized crime...is your last name Gotti....the Italian Mafia that was a great time for amerika , true , no laws broken here, right.....it’s all very relative...generalizations can go in any direction...bigotry is an amerikan commodity.

Your continued attempts to be witty...are of course a failure...but don’t quit....trial and error, that’s how we learn…
You really do sound like an idiot , with all that “ I’m so happy “, stuff, what does that have to do with any of the discussion points...you just sound like some kind of polly anna fool… I’m telling you this as one person to another, all insults aside, sincerely
Scorp won’t tell you this , cause he’s too anal-centered to care...but hey...your insults have not hit the mark one time...you are constantly on the defensive...it’s so obvious…
Posted by Redhorse on Jul 3, 2006 at 10:48 PM Tina… Socrates once said “ an unexamined life is not worth living “ , my question to you is....what is your worth ? Are you just taking up space and wasting precious resources.......the one is too ponder...the other is the conclusion........
The examined life can be difficult , but has its rewards...any lumpen can take up space

Posted by Redhorse on Jul 3, 2006 at 11:07 PM redhorse it must me a very sad little world that you live in. It’s a hard road to run when you are so full of HATE anf VENOM. Sinci I just got back from my 2nd job which I earned and wasn’t entitled to I got a chance to read your boo hoo statement of how America really is. Well if you dislike it so much then when you depart for say other shores we
will all be at the dock waving goodbye. But please make it a one way ticket. As for a hand up it mans an education and hard work. It doesn’t mean going to the government and holding out your hand. My family had 7 kids and they never asked for a dime. Yes, truthfully my mamma is proud of me, She taught me the value of hard work, honesty and depending on the one person that truly matters, MYSELF. We are putting a child through pharmacy school, without grants or loans. I work 2 jobs and my spose works 2 jobs. The student work 30 hours a week and she is a very hard worker. As for my mother she didn’t have a problem doing any job that other people wouldn’t. Oh by the way my father is part native american so I guess the truth is he has more right ot be here than say , uh even ME. As for your geography lesson it was enlightening.. Come to the U.S. just do it and here is the operative word LEGALLY. I have no problem being able to welcome anyone and everyone to this country, just do it the right way.
Posted by robin 45 on Jul 4, 2006 at 1:31 PM robin45....OK...So...You still have not answered the question of a hand out vs hand up...You work two jobs....so,.whats new on the avenue, that was your hang up...not mine...you are the one who insinuated everybody else is looking for a handout...I did not ask for your life story...talk about drama...Damn...So now you have a problem with smart students, who are not fortunate enough to have folks with a total of 4 jobs paying for their education, getting a loan or grant....what gives...And again, how do you know your momma did not steal away...don’t get me wrong...I’m cool with that...it doesn’t matter one bit to Redhorse what your momma did...she had to take care of Business...and it seems to this Horse , that you need to mind your own business and stop worrying about how other people handle theirs....And my dear...why should Redhorse go anywhere , my ancestory is firmly planted on two continents, just like you sweetie, I may retire to Ghana , when you do send me off, please bring some Vendange Wine “ Pinot Grigio “ would be quite fine...thank you.
p.s....I always find it interesting when europeans talk about what % of their ancestry is native something or other...pow wow...but you still got a problem with you hometown blood brothers steal’in away to Chicago for a better life...When folks are trying to survive and escape poverty , your petty moralization and stuck up attitude , don’t add up to a shazzell dizzell...Miss Thang..........Good day
Posted by Redhorse on Jul 4, 2006 at 2:37 PM When you are ready to go to Ghana let me know, I will bring you a case of any or all wine or whatever you want. I may even contribute to your passage out. It would be worth spending the money. And liberal democrat’s say conservative’s are the only one’s spewing hate and intolerance. You proved my point there, I will always see the glass as half full unlike you who wants the government to supply him with the glasss then complain when they don’t fill it enough. A hand up is learning new skills, trying everyday to be better than the day before. Not being afraid to work hard and do any thing nesessary to earn your OWN way, As far as hard work goes I guess that’s the way we all should live. Dem’s and rep’s alike have run this country in the ground. So I rely on my self motivation and ability to do anything I need to to support my family. I will never apologize for being self reliant or not standing in line for a hanout. Maybe in 5 years time my daughter will be the one filling your perscription. And laughing all the way to the bank with a hard earned degree. At least she won’t ever coin the phrase would you like fries with that. An by the way it’s not 4 jobs it’s 5 . The daughter also knows hard work usually helps. If it’s worh having it’s worth paying for.
Posted by robin 45 on Jul 4, 2006 at 4:44 PM In ten years your daughter will have her degree in pharmacology and will be working as an assistant pharmacist for an annual salary of $30-40,000. If she’s like most college graduates from the rural South, she will move to the city, because that’s where the good-paying jobs are, the ones which provide a living income, decent working conditions and a liberal benefits package. If necessary, she’ll help you and your family move to the city with her. If not, she’ll bring her family out to the country once a year to visit gramma and granpa. They’ll sit at the dinner table and feel embarassed or amused at your “old-fashioned” conservative attitudes about the “city-slickers” who are so afraid of hard work and self-reliance that they would rather stand in line for a government handout. Because they respect you, they won’t laugh at you, even though they’ll know from their own experience that the only people who “stand in line for a handout” are the people who have no other legal alternative, and that laughing at them for their inability to support themselves is even worse than laughing at you for your miserable lack of regard for them. The Democrats, with FDR’s New Deal and LBJ’s Great Society, did more to mitigate Southern poverty than all the Republicans ever will. If the Republicans had their way, you’d still be drawing your water from polluted wells and lighting your homes with kerosene lanterns. But people blinded by anger and hatred will never understand this. Hopefully, your children and grandchildren will.
Posted by Major Major on Jul 4, 2006 at 6:15 PM I think the south was pretty much Red states. Only the coasts went in the blue column. Yeah, she probably will work out at 30 to 40 per but with persistance and patience she will be at a better salary level. wasn’t John Edwards from the south? I don’t think he even carried his own home state. Interesting. If Southern’s hate republican’s so much why is the south voting the way they are? Oh yeah please don’t forget schoollunch funds being cut,evil republican’s also want to starve your kids. And Cameron Diaz said rape would be legal if Bush were elected. Check out Oprah that’s where she said it. So the rep’s are for rape,dirty water, and abolishing electricity.? Next you’ll tell me that they are for dragging women into caves by their hair and keeping them in survitude. Oh yeah and Reagan created homless people and AIDS. Did I miss anything? At least they don’t drive young girls off bridges,after a night of drunken partying, only to rember it 8 hours later. Bet old Mary Jo was pretty waterlogged about the time they pulled her out of the car.
Only in Massachutes. A blue state, go figure. Go Teddy Go!
Posted by robin 45 on Jul 5, 2006 at 2:17 PM This is the Battle Hymn of Ralph Reed
It is submitted from a Conservative Confederate Flag supporterMine eyes have seen the orgy of the launching of the Sword;
He is searching out the hoardings where the Indian’s wealth is stored;
He hath loosed his fateful lightnings, and with Abramoff has scored;
His lust is marching on.I have seen him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps;
They have builded him an altar in Coalition’s dews and damps;
I have read his doomful mission by the dim and flaring lamps-
His night is marching on.I have read his bandit gospel writ in burnished rows of steel:
“As ye deal with my pretensions, so with you my wrath shall deal;
Let the faithless son of Freedom crush the patriot with his heel;
Lo, Reed is marching on!”He shouted “It wasn’t the Flag that got King Rat beat”;
Reed is seeking out commercial souls before his judgement seat;
O, be swift, ye clods, to answer him! be jubilant my feet!
Our god is marching on!In a sordid slime harmonious Reed was born in yonder ditch,
With a longing in his bosom-and for others’ goods an itch.
As Christ died to make men holy, let men die to make us rich –
Our god is marching on.

I can’t wait until the mid-terms this November. After the GOP not only maintains the House and Senate, but when we take more seats you will really see liberals exploding.

Posted by tina1 on Jul 5, 2006 at 7:41 PM It wasn’t the Republicans who built the dams which provided electricity to the rural South, or the water and sewer systems which reduced the spread of disease, or the hospitals and regional clinics which provided the medical care to treat or prevent illness, or the schools which provide the skills required to obtain a living wage, or hired the local residents to build it all, or set up the public pension programs and the medical programs and the housing programs to feed and house the elderly and the indigent and disabled. It wasn’t the Republicans who provided farmers with subsidies to keep them from growing a surplus of crops which would lower the price and bankrupt them, or provide them with the grants and loans required to finance the puchase of land and farm equipment. It wasn.t the Republicans who allowed them to climb out from the grinding poverty of the depression and recessions which followed from it. In fact, the Republicans allowed them to remain mired in it, and accused Roosevelt and Johnson of being communists and traitors for legislating the programs which made it possible for them to work hard and improve their lot in life. In fact, the Republicans are cutting funds for those programs and running to privatize everything from Social Security to Medicare and Medicaid to public education to food and housing subsidies.
Cut and run: the Republican solution.

You most certainly are an anti-semite and an uneducated redneck moron. You talk about the Jews as a group harming you personally when no such thing has occured and you openly speak of causing them physical harm. This I must assume stems from prejudice. As far as Mel Gibson is concerned Jews don’t hate him because he is a Christian. Jews don’t ever care what religion others profess. The Jewish community feels it is owed an apology for his hateful slander in associating them with the devil. He knows how gullible and uneducated you rednecks are and how riled up you get at the chance to scapegoat innocent people because most of you are inculcated with hatred because you are such losers. Listen to what you are saying and to the mindless hysteria you are trying to arouse against innocent people. You are a moron. You should be ashamed!

Incidentally, none of the Saudis or Pakistanis responsible for 911 came here “illegally”. All of them carried the appropriate documentation required to legally enter the US. Now she says N.korea has nuke bombs because of clinton. I guess when iran gets nuke bombs that will be clintons fault too. In 6 years bush has never screwed up. Bush a ex booser and drug addict who’s wife killed a student while drunk driving in high school and got caught selling pot in college, found the bible and are perfect now. Typical rebuplicans nothing is their fault, they blame the libs, media,faulty intelligents,clinton,other countries,leaks (if it’s not in their favor), blame everything and everybody around you, but nothing is ever their fault. I wish everybody could be that perfect.
As for book sales by conservatives are grossly overstated because SO many of these books are GIVEN AWAY FOR FREE. Try this: go to newsmax.com and look to the top right. There is the offer to receive Coulter’s book for FREE. Like that dope Hannity, though, she believes her own press releases and thus brags about her book sales and her place on the NYT Bestseller’s list.
NYT list has come to so deviate from what actually is actually selling that the standard “NYT Bestseller” display was replaced in the late 1990s with a company-specific one based on what had sold the prior week. The NYT bestseller list also does not count just retail sales, but wholesales orders as well; since books purchased wholesale can be returned to the publisher by the merchant if unsold, wholesale figures have no reflection on what the public is really reading.

I love it because all the republican sitting around at work ( civilians and military) are saying how they screwed up by voting for bush.
The base has cut back to the bare bone this means equipment,vehicles,training,safety items, for the troops going to iraq. Bush exit plan go broke then leave.
I love to watch the melt down on base, and all the people on base who loose their jobs can vote republican in nov. from the unemployment line. LOL !!!!!!!!
remember if you disagree with repubs. you are a traitor, if you point out mistakes by bush, you are anti american, if you question policy you are on an angery rant, sound familiar tina1. Now we can’t even go to church, I hear we are godless now, must be true if coulter says it.
I get to talk to troops comming and going to iraq. I get to hear things the news won’t report.
Fox news says nobody is reporting any good news in iraq, then why doesn’t fux news go to iraq and report all the good news they can find, it would be a scoop ratings would go through the roof. Come on fux news let’s see you do it, come on do it. LOL !!!!!

Posted by Major Major on Jul 7, 2006 at 10:22 AM July Canute,
What do you consider an “attack” on Christians? Who has made such an attack? You just generalize and scapegoat. Do you think that the anti-Ralph Reed tone of the article constitutes an attack on Christians? How stupid! I’ve seen much greater anti-Christian right views expressed by real Christians who are sick of being associated with the far right evangelicals. In fact, I’ve never seen an attack in the US on Christianity at all. This is a clerico-fascist smokescreen for attacks on minorities and those who oppose our unelected fascist government. One of the signs of fascism is when pundits of the established order begin to hold traditionally weak and vulnerable minorities of one kind or another up for mass ridicule and scapegoating for the nation’s ills. One of the tactics is to portray them as hostile to the majority and potentially dangerous to the “cultural integrity” of society and thus a threat. They are said to be “bullying” the majority as if this is actually possible. The whole Christmas thing is pathetic. Jews do not hate Christians. Jews intermarry with them at a rate of over 65%. That is to say that at least 2 out of every 3 Jews in the United States marries a Christian while only one in three marries another Jew. This is hardly what you’ld expect from a situation where the Jews loathed and disrespected Christians per se! What most urban educated Jews reject is ignorance. You are confusing Rednecks with Christians!
As far as Israel is concerned most Jews oppose the Israeli Occupation of Palestine while many US Christian rednecks support it. Nearly 1,700 Israeli soldiers have refused military service in the Occupied Territories. Our corporate media utterly ignore this important news phenomenon! Israelis are more attuned to this issue than Americans. Like the American People, Israelis have little influence over their government. Many Israeli conscientious objectors have faced jail sentences. To find out about thier valient struggle go to www.nimn.org or to www.peacenow.org and see what’s up. And stop hating all Jews over the actions of a few Israeli politicians!
Posted by cabdriverinchicago on Jul 7, 2006 at 4:52 PM The Jews are attacking the Christians?
Has no one notified the folks at Homeland Security? Someone should raise the colored alert to yellow, orange, red or (gasp) black.
Wait! Wasn’t Christ a Jew? Or black?
I’m confused.

Hey Brian,
I’m not sure what your smoking or if you just live in a closet with your computer, but here are the facts of our economy. You sure are one negative, gloom & doom guy. AMAZING… You don’t look at the glass half empty, you look at the glass totally empty. lol…>> 121,000 Jobs Created In June. The economy has created about 1.85 million jobs over the past 12 months – and more than 5.4 million since August 2003. The unemployment rate is 4.6 percent – lower than the average of the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
>> Since 2004, The U.S. Has Created About Twice The Number Of Jobs As The Rest Of The G-7 Countries Combined.
>> Employment Increased In 48 States Over The Past 12 Months Ending In May.
>> Real GDP Grew At An Annual Rate Of 5.6 Percent For The First Quarter Of This Year. This is the fastest growth in two-and-a-half years and even stronger than previous estimates. It follows economic growth of 3.5 percent in 2005 – the fastest rate of any major industrialized nation.
>> Real Consumer Spending Increased At An Annual Rate Of 5.1 Percent In The First Quarter.
>> Industrial Production Increased 4.3 Percent Over The Past 12 Months.
Posted by tina1 on Jul 7, 2006 at 8:53 PM Strong Growth Is Helping Raise More Tax Revenues For The Federal Government. In 2005, tax revenues grew by $274 billion, or nearly 15 percent - the largest increase in 24 years.
The economy is continuing to grow, and tax revenues are growing with it. So far this year, tax revenues are 13 percent higher than they were at the same point last year, which is significantly better than projected.
The President Has Expanded Tax Relief And Is Working To Make His Tax Relief Permanent. In May, President Bush signed into law a bill that extends the tax cuts on dividends and capital gains. This legislation also contains an Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) patch enabling millions of middle-income families to avoid paying higher taxes in 2006.
The President’s Tax Relief Has Helped Spur Growth By Keeping $880 Billion In The Pockets Of American Taxpayers. The Administration reduced taxes for every American who pays income taxes, doubled the child tax credit, reduced the marriage penalty, created investment incentives for small businesses, and put the death tax on the road to extinction.
Posted by tina1 on Jul 7, 2006 at 9:14 PM July-nute....You know your standing on shaky ground....these two wannabe Nazi war criminals are not the type you want to hang your hat on....especially from the christian tip....From a doctrinal standpoint Christianity is a dead religion...your problem is , you just don’t know it ....Your Jesus Christ is a mythical allegorical figure , there is no real person in history of this character....much of what you believe too be christian history is in fact pre-extant as Egyptian Mythology...The belief that the canonical Gospels contains a veritable human history is false...and that the history proves itself is a misinterpretation of the greatest proportions known too humanity....qoute: Gerald Masseys Lectures; pg 5,.....Four consecutive scenes reproduced in my book are found portrayed upon the innermost walls of the Holy of Holies in the Temple of Luxor, which was built by Amenhept III, a Pharoah of the 17th dynasty. The first scene on the left hand shows the God Taht , the Lunar Mercury, the Annunciator of the Gods, in the act of hailing the Virgin Queen, and announcing to her that she is to give birth to the coming Son...In the next scene the God Kneph ( in conjunction with Hathor ) gives the new life. This is the Holy Ghost or Spirit that causes the Immaculate Conception, Kneph being the spirit by name in Egyptian… The natural effects are made apparent in the virgins swelling form....
Next the mother is seated on the mid-wifes stool, and the newborn child is supported in the hands of the nures...........................................
Posted by Redhorse on Jul 8, 2006 at 4:00 AM The fourth scene is that of the Adoration....Here the child is enthroned, recieving homage from the Gods and gifts from men...Behind the deity Kneph, on the right, three spirits-- the Three Magi, or Kings of the Legend,are kneeling and offering presents with their right hand, and life with their left. The child thus announced, incarnated , born, and worshipped, was the Pharaonic representative of the Aten Sun in Egypt , the God Aton of Syria, and Hebrew Adonai ; the child-Christ of the Aten Cult ; the miraculous conception of the ever-virgin mother, personated by Mut-em-ua , as mother of the “only one “ and representative of the divine mother of the youthful Sun-God.
These scenes , which were MYTHICAL in Egypt, have been copied or reproduced as HISTORICAL in the Canonical Gospels, where they stand like four corner-stones to the Historic Structure , and prove that the foundations are MYTHICAL.; end qoute......Now you can accept the facts or reject them , that is up too you...Other scholars such as Alvin Boyd Kuhn...Albert Churchward...and Charles S. Finch III, M.D., document this reality....So , Redhorse suggests that before you go off your rocker making accusations about an attack on Christianity....you first ackowledge the facts concerning the so-called faith...it is in fact quite impossible too attack something that does not exist...The misinterpretation that is religion today is the source of much suffering on this planet ,especially in the so-called Middle East , which is in fact northeast Afrika....Ms. July-nute you do have the human right to believe what you will...but like an infectious dis-ease , please don’t spread it too others........

Posted by Redhorse on Jul 8, 2006 at 4:50 AM Now further , what you attibute to the “ Jews “ concerning the Palestinians is in fact “Zionism “ , which is the use of Religion , Race , and Geo-politics to attain a goal very similar to what Neo-Nazism is attemping to do..This is similiar to assuming that because we both reside in Amerika, we both believe and support a neo-nazist agenda, when in fact only you appear to support this fascistic nonsense..Accordingly ,.sense you seem to support this cause of neo-nazism based on your response...it would seem you are arguing against yourself , if in fact you are also Pro-Palestinian..this duplicity is in point ,quite “SCHIZOPHRENIC” in perspective...it would appear your superstitions have got a hold of you Mad-Damn , in qiute the multi-dementia persona.. rendering your complaint as it is ; extremely “ MOOT “indeed....
Posted by Redhorse on Jul 8, 2006 at 5:31 AM Good grief, Tina. Anyone can copy and paste from a White House website, as you did from this one: http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/economy/
Allow me to demonstrate:
<blockquote>
THE CLINTON-GORE ECONOMIC RECORD: THE LOWEST UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN 30 YEARSTHE LOWEST UNEMPLOYMENT RATE SINCE 1969 AND MORE THAN 20 MILLION NEW JOBS. In 1992, when Bill Clinton was elected President, the American economy was barely creating jobs, wages were stagnant, and the unemployment rate was 7.5 percent. His bold, three-part economic strategy focused on three objectives: fiscal discipline, investing in education, health care, science and technology, and opening foreign markets. Today’s jobs release provides more evidence that this strategy is working:
The Unemployment Rate Was 4.2 Percent in 1999—the Lowest Since 1969. The unemployment rate was 4.1 percent in December bringing the average unemployment rate for 1999 to 4.2 percent—the lowest since 1969. The unemployment rate has fallen for seven years in a row. It has remained below 5 percent for 30 months in a row. For women the unemployment rate was 4.1 percent—the lowest since 1953.
African American and Hispanic Unemployment Rates Were the Lowest on Record in 1999. The unemployment rate for African Americans has fallen from 14.2 percent in 1992 to 8.0 percent in 1999 – the lowest rate on record. The unemployment rate for Hispanics has fallen from 11.6 percent in 1992 to 6.4 percent in 1999—the lowest rate on record.
20.4 Million New Jobs Created Under the Clinton-Gore Administration. Since 1993, the economy has added 20.4 million new jobs. That’s the most jobs ever created under a single Administration – and more new jobs than Presidents Reagan and Bush created during their three terms. Under President Clinton, the economy has added an average of 245,000 jobs per month, the highest of any President on record. This compares to 52,000 per month under President Bush and 167,000 per month under President Reagan.
92 Percent—18.8 Million—of the New Jobs Have Been Created in the Private Sector. Since President Clinton and Vice President Gore took office, the private sector of the economy has added 18.5 million new jobs. That is 92 percent of the 20.4 million new jobs – the highest percentage since Harry S. Truman was President and presiding over the post-World War II demobilization.
Most Rapid Growth in Construction Jobs In 50 Years. After losing 662,000 jobs in construction during the previous four years, 1.9 million new construction jobs have been added during the Clinton-Gore years—that’s a faster annual rate (5.1 percent) than any other Administration since Harry S. Truman was President.
Fastest and Longest Real Wage Growth in Two Decades. In the last 12 months, average hourly earnings have increased 3.7 percent—faster than the rate of inflation. This marks the fourth consecutive year of real wage growth—the longest consecutive increase since the early 1970s. Under President Clinton, real wages are up 6.5 percent, after declining 4.3 percent during the Reagan and Bush years. Real wage growth in 1998 reached 2.6 percent—the largest increase since 1972.
Inflation-- Lowest Since the 1960s. Inflation remains virtually non-existent, with the underlying core rate of inflation at 2.0 percent this year—the lowest rate since 1965. In the last four quarters the GDP price index has risen 1.3 percent—the lowest rate of increase since 1963.

Posted by Redhorse on Jul 9, 2006 at 9:50 AM Jew attacking Christians? I mean, Jews attacking Moslems, maybe that might be more plausible, in the Middle East where most of the population is Moslem and most of the population of Israel is Jewish. But even there you’d have to be seriously suicidal to piss off the people of a region who so overwhelmingly outnumber you. But to seriously assert that US Jews are attacking US Christians is even more delusional than asserting that the neocons attacked Iraq to defend the US from Iraqi WMDs.
This joker is definitely not worried about who’s attacking who. He’s defending his hero, Shawn Stewart, but he just doesn’t have the courage to come right out and say it.

Posted by Redhorse on Jul 9, 2006 at 1:00 PM The attack on the USS Liberty was probably already known about in advance by CIA of DIA officials and approved secretly. The issue probably reflects a serious split in the US foreign policy establishment over the then controversial issue of the extent of US military support for Israel in light of the Soviet position in the middle east and the cold war. The incident occured during the June War which put Israel in full control of ALL of British Mandatory Palestine. No concensus had yet emerged in the State Dept. which saw Israeli Nukes as key to US influence in the region or to the balance of power. In all likelihood the Liberty-a US Naval intelligance vessle-had gathered information of Israeli nuclear activities. At this point no one in the US foreign policy establishment approved of Israeli Nukes officially and openly.

Jews have always done disproportionate good to all the societies they’ve ever lived in. This is an historic fact. They tend to be educated professionals and bring progress, technological advancement, wealth, and culture to places they inhabit. Israel is a place Christians foolishly sent them packing to against their will. You say that the US is a Christian country (wrong!) though it is secular. Then you claim inadvertantly that it is the reason that the US is universally despised. How bizarre?! You need to know it is US imperialism that has earned us a bad rap. You also need to get a good education!

Posted by Redhorse on Jul 9, 2006 at 1:44 PM Both Kerry and Gore are equally pro-Israel. Very few Democrats are critical of the Israeli occupation at all although many want to restart the peace process with the Palestinians and place all issues on the table for negotiation including the Wall, settlements, final status for Jerusalem, borders between the two states, mutual security, and Palestinian rights within Israel proper. No Democrats oppose support for Israel outright! Kerry supported the war because like everyone else in the house and senate he was fed bogus intelligance on Iraq, WMDs, and al-Qaeda terrorist linkages. The Jews have nothing to do with the Democratic Party selection of candidates and policy platform adoption. The Democratic Party is a mass US political party supported mostly by non-Jews. You are a Nazi and a miserable hatemonger and are not welcome on a civilized weblog for decent and intelligant human beings. Please leave us alone and go someplace you belong!

Posted by Redhorse on Jul 10, 2006 at 5:03 AM You don’t have to be Jewish to steal another people’s land and resources, kill the people who resist and enslave the survivors. In fact, Christian Americans have been doing it for several centuries. I’m tempted to say that Americans wrote the book on that glorious chapter of history, but we all know that it’s just another recurrent theme in the tapestry of civilization, one which would be almost boring in its almost infinite variety and repitition if it didn’t require the ritual sacrifice of innocent victims. Some of us understand that the elimination of predatory rivals actually results in the production of more predatory rivals. Whether this chain of mass misery will ever be broken is debatable, but fascist dickheads like you will only perpetuate the carnage.
Posted by Major Major on Jul 10, 2006 at 9:45 AM The only joke, “Julycanute”, is your ignorant and senseless ranting! The ITT blog has never attacked Christians, no one says your an “Aryan nationalist” for defending Palestinians (which many individual Jews and Jewish human rights and peace groups do more effectively than you who only uses the issue to spread hatred of Jews), and no one is attacking Christians in the process of attacking your ignorant, hateful ranting especially as you and other Nazis credibly deny being Christians based chiefly on the dubious claim that Christianity is a “Jewish Cult or Myth” as the official Nazi line variously goes! The ITT editors are investigating your posts per request and hopefully you will soon be gone! I know that you think being an actual Nazi is clever and that there is a political future in it in this country. I can assure you that neither is the case. This is true not least of all because of the deep religious convictions of conservatives who would otherwise sympathize with you. As far as everyone to the left of them, they feel about you the way you feel about the Jews. FYI: it is never good to make open threats on the internet against individuals or groups although the FBI has probably already compiled a dossier on you. This is no joke.

Posted by Redhorse on Jul 10, 2006 at 1:47 PM The 14 characteristics of fascism are:
Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights
Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of “need.” The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.Supremacy of the Military
Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.Rampant Sexism
The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.Controlled Mass Media
Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.Obsession with National Security
Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.Religion and Government are Intertwined
Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government’s policies or actions.Corporate Power is Protected
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.Labor Power is Suppressed
Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed .Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.Obsession with Crime and Punishment
Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.Fraudulent Elections
Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.
Posted by uncle remus on Aug 2, 2006 at 2:08 AM Uncle Remus,
Your fourteen points on [US] fascism seems to be right on target. I believe that it is appropriate to the current situation in the US. It is quite scarey. Action needs to be taken. I suggest that we all insist on widespread monitoring of US elections including international observers (this would really embarrass the Bushies). This last point refers to our supreme democratic right! It’s really to bad that the very first MODERN democratic nation needs foreign observers to assure a free and fair election but I guess that is what happens when fascism looms on the horizen. Herbert Marcuse once said the liberal democratic state was pregnant with a fascist one with the midwife being capitalist crisis. He was certainly correct with regard to Germany in the 1930s and he is right about the US today!
Posted by cabdriverinchicago on Aug 5, 2006 at 7:21 PM Space and limitations did not allow me to include the following, Ican not take credit for the post the info was compiled by: Political scientist Dr. Lawrence Britt recently wrote an article about fascism ("Fascism Anyone?,” Free Inquiry, Spring 2003, page 20). Studying the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia), and Pinochet (Chile), Dr. Britt found they all had 14 elements in common. He calls these the identifying characteristics of fascism. I do however find it rather scary just how much these characteristics, are exemplified by the attitudes and actions within our nation today. While the simpleton shallow minds upon both sides of the political coin act as if the whole thing is like a high school football game, us against them, etc. we have all been duped and don’t even realize it, what a joke............. we are witness to the power of greed as never before, the mumbling mime like blue collar republicans just espouse the same old tired rhetoric, that has been programed into their blindsheep mind sets, none look as stupid as some poor paycheck to paycheck bloke trying to affiliate himself with the party of the wealthy, just how dumb can some folks be?, and as to conservativism, it has all but died,, What has in any way been “conservative” about this current administration? The record speaks for it’s self , not much room to argue, A board-certified psychiatrist in practice for 30 years, Dr. Wolman feels compelled to understand the “psychopathology” of man “under tremendous pressure from both his family/junta, and from the world at large.”
Dr. Wolman wonders if GW is suffering from Antisocial Personality Disorder, as described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual Fourth Edition: “There is a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others: 1) failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest; 2) deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure; 5) reckless disregard for safety of self or others; 7) lack of remorse by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated or stolen from others.”
Dry Drunk G W Bush is highly regarded for “kicking” the twin demons of cocaine and alcohol addiction. If he is still off both wagons and there is no proof that isn’t – such a triumph, encouraged and aided by his wife, is commendable.
When probing the mysteries of GW’s brain chemistry, a key point to ponder is that damage done to brain cells from drug abuse is permanent and irreversible.”
Posted by uncle remus on Aug 5, 2006 at 10:51 PM Interesting analysis Uncle Remus...well spoken...But the Bushes mental disorders are inherent....both parents are fascist...and a grandfather Prescott was also infected with the “greed dis-ease “…
Redhorse believes that mental disorders of the type mentioned in your post are rampant in amerikan society...along with a definite denial syndrome....attached.....
Another point of thought is the fact that one of the most exploited groups in all this conflict is the young military “voluteeer “ recruit.....outside of the victims of their assualts...the young recruits that find themselves in combat situations....these young , often still teenage or early 20’s personnel have been indoctrinated to kill....many saw the military as a place too earn money for education...but that’s only if you survive....
What does that say about a country that claims to be the best ...but allows , college age young folks....little options other than military service...to get money for educationArticle in the Washington Post last week about Fidel Castro’s Cuba educating amerikan medical students...because many could not afford to get a degree in medicine in the States....what are the real prioities here......
Posted by Redhorse on Aug 6, 2006 at 7:59 AM The problem is not the Bush Administration’s mental illness although I am thoroughly willing to believe that this is a contributory problem! The real issue is the psychosis that has now gripped the entire US society. We have now begun to accept the unacceptable. This is historically common to societies in profound crisis whereby fear and the scapegoating of “enemies” is used to keep people in line. Fear becomes society’s legitimating ideology and an effective means of control. People are told who to blame and who to fear! Fascism is immanent when people are given a mythological national heritage to worship and aspire to which gives them a false sense of solidarity against the “alien” or “other.” They begin to believe they are organically connected to each other, the state, and a preordained destiny as a nation with an essential purpose and political mission! Mythologizing creates a false and powerful psuedo-identity for the masses. Imagining a national mission is powerful as a motivator! This is unifying and creates enormous pressure for mass conformity! False mythologies are key to the success of the strategy of national unity and identity. The famed British Historian, Eric Hobsbawm, once remarked, “the key to nationalism is getting history wrong!”
Evidence of this is currently seen in attempts to scapegoat all Muslims and create a modern sense of the great Christian Crusades. The idea of the US as the force of Absolute Good against Absolute Evil is a powerful one which also resonates with Christian religious doctrines of abstract “good” and “evil.” This “justifies” and generates mass support for war despite the obvious irrationality of the policy and the specific way it is being applied. It further mystifies the real purpose of national policy. Finally, it silences vital discussion on issues of war and peace at a crucial time!
Fascism, as a politics of spontineity, is more a “call to action” than a pre-conceived, cohesive ideology. This is evidenced in such racist actions to protect the “national identity” as the minutemen patrolling the US/Mexican Border and the galvanizing espirit de corp it creates. This is effective despite the fact that Mexican immigrants are currently less than one-fifth of all immigrants in the US and their role in the US economy is a net gain for, rather than drain on, the national economy. Again the “nation” is galvanized against the “alien other&
