What Bush Has Stolen From Us

By Susan J. Douglas

Many of us had been waiting for tougher talk from Barack Obama about John McCain and the Bush presidency. At the Democratic convention, Obama began to deliver — but it wasn’t stark enough. I recently visited Australia and New Zealand, and it made me realize that we need mythic language — the kind that comes from oral cultures reliant on handed-down… return to article

    The financial meltdown and the proposed mega-bailout for rich thieves and liars simply forces millions of Americans to recognize that the USA is a racist oligarchy, not a true democracy.  As America falls politically, economically and spiritually the corrupt ruling elite is rapidly expanding its plans to bleed the middle class and crush the underclass, especially the long-suffering slave descendants, most of whom dwell in inner cities which have devolved into “killing fields.”  Both McCain and Obama are first and foremost servants of the ruling class who are already locked into commitments to clash with Venezuela and Iran. Ironically Obama, like McCain, opposes Reparations for slave descendants who continue to suffer from ethnocide and forced assimilation malevolently imposed by the U.S. government in blatant violation of United Nations Covenants.  Most media have intentionally hidden through non-coverage the very existence of the Reparations Movement which for more than fifteen years has been waging a legal battle for Human Rights and Reparations for all 250 million Afrodescendants in the western hemisphere.  I invite In These Times to interview President Ajani Mukarram of All For Reparations And Emancipation (AFRE) so that your readers can have a clear idea of our movement.
    Sincerely,

    The dozen of times Bush tried to reign in Freddy and Fanny is absent from the story.  The Dems were more interest in the “good intension” of putting poor people and minorities into houses.  The two CEOs that ran Freddy and Fanny into the ground are now the chief economic advisors for BHO.

    George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years.  During the first six years the economy was fine.  In fact President Bush asked Congress (republican) to help him improve it by passing a bill to lower all taxes.  And our economy took off like gang busters!

    It’s amazing that little over one year ago:
            1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
            2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
            3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
            4) the DOW JONES hit a record high—14,000 +
            5) American’s were buying new cars, taking cruises, vacations overseas, living large!...

    But American’s wanted ‘CHANGE’!  So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes—we got ‘CHANGE’ all right. In the PAST YEAR:
            1) Consumer confidence has plummeted;
            2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!;
            3) Unemployment is up to 5.5% (a 10% increase);
            4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION DOLLARS and prices still dropping;
            5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
            6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low~~
              $2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT
              PORTFOLIOS!

    Yes, in 2006 America voted for change…and we sure got it!

    Remember the President has NO CONTROL over any of these monetary issues, ONLY CONGRESS.  And what has Congress done in the last 2-years, to change things for the better?  ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

    Now the Democratic candidate for President claims that he is going to REALLY give us change along with a Democratic Congress!!!!

    Just how muchmore ‘CHANGE’ do you think this country can stand?
