There is no requirement to contribute to any political campaign. This has nothing to do with democracy. Americans reading In These Times are highly likely to be voters, and voting requires no monetary consideration.

I would hardly call Clinton's defeat "resounding," and the assertion that Obama "faced at least as much racism" as Clinton faced sexism is preposterous. Racism has become, almost in a good way (almost!), something in the public sphere that is discussed much more than actually engaged in (which is not to suggest that racism is not rampant, merely that public admission of racism has become somewhat taboo). I appreciate your points about defense budgets, and campaign financing, and single payer, etc., and in response I'd just add the url for the True Majority "Oreos" animation. http://www.truemajority.org/oreos/ But the swipe at Krugman just isn't right. It's true he's critical of Obama, but he's hardly the "president of the Hillary Clinton fan club." That's just childish, Mr. Bleifuss.
