In case anyone should read this older article. I'm the Union Prez. quoted in the article. As a followup, we used the "successorship doctrine*" successfully to require LSSI to recognize the union, but many of the library workers, new and old, are reluctant. It seems very strange, though many of the newer employees are non-professionals, and very part-time. If we don't have interest of the employees, we will forsake our interest in the group at some point. Unfortunate as it may be, particularly in these rural areas many misnomers persist about unions.
