The use of torture by the Bush administration prompted me to begin examining the US government more critically, which eventually led me to the likes of Noam Chomsky, Bob McChesney, Howard Zinn, and Edward Herman. From them, I learned much more about the history and structure of the political system, and the dire need for extensive structural reforms. Promoting such reform has now become one of my top priorities outside my formal studies.
