filibuster-o-rama
What's this now?
After a lackluster defense during the Alito hearings, suddenly key Democrats are showing some spine. In belatedly calling for a filibuster, Kerry said this:
Reviews of the move are mixed, but some think that there's still a chance for at least a symbolic win. The radio hosts of "The Young Turks" have decided to set an example for the Democrats, vowing to filibuster until they do. Check 'em out at www.theyoungturks.com

I voted against Justice Roberts, I feel even more strongly about Judge Alito. Why? Rather than live up to the promise of "equal justice under the law," he's consistently made it harder for the most disadvantaged Americans to have their day in court. He routinely defers to excessive government power regardless of how extreme or egregious the government's actions are. And, to this date, his only statement on record regarding a woman's right to privacy is that she doesn't have one.

I’m very skeptical of the “Kennedy-Kerry Filibuster” motives. Looks like nothing more than rear-guard theater to me.
Just Alito’s views that the 14th Amendment liberties make bad law and should be arbitrarily employed only in exteme circumstances is reason enough to filibuster the anti-Constitution Alito into a smoking hole. Roe v. Wade is dead as a doornail if Alito takes his 14th Amendment views into the climate of fascist thuggeries that is the US Supreme Court. (At least five of the sitting justices should be impeached and removed for their unconstitutonal decisions. And then they should be prosecuted for their many obvious violations of 18 USC 241—criminal conspiracy against citizen rights.)
The Alito filibuster is the right thing to do. Kennedy-Kerry had to give it a little lip service to avoid political suicide in their next elections. But when things get real next week, we have the cautionary tale of the last five years.
Brand the Demos “POTR”—property of the billionaires. They are, for all practical purposes, the spineless co-fascist wing of the Republifascist Party. Their only significant activity in opposition has been rolling over and playing dead.
We the sovereign people need to get tough. We need to elect an Impeachment & Removal Congress in Election 2006. Replace all 33 of the open Senate seats with newbies who have signed tough-love pledges to work for impeachment and removal of all constitutional criminals in this dual-party, three-branch despotism led by the Bush-Cheney Illegitimacy. Work to utterly destroy the Republifascist Party in the US House. This govt of, by, and for the billionaires must perish. It is a mortal threat to the existence of our nation.
It’s way past time that we the sovereign people stopped rolling over and playing dead.
Depend on the spineless co-fascist wing of the Republifascist Party for anything? Nevermore. Hi-jack the Democratic Party machinery so that we don’t have the 3rd-party problems, but don’t depend on them for anything.
The filibuster is an obligation, not an option. Any Senator who does not vote for the Alito filibuster is deliberately violating her or his oath of office.
Wallowing in short-term strategy has left the Democrats with a long-term dilemma. Core constituencies of the party are completely demoralized.
Yes, the spineless co-fascist wing of the Republifascist party rolled over again. About 20 senatorial Demofascists rang in the Alito-fascist. Welcome to money-power hell. The Supremes are now the most powerful force for fascism that has ever existed. The elimination of Roe v. Wade is a matter of short time. The “Unitary Presidency” cum dictatorship is a foregone conclusion. The senatorial Demofascists will profit for the rest of their unnatural lives. And there is just no way that Bush will give up his dictatorship in 2008.
The Bush-Cheney terror war is forever.
We the sovereign people have the power to turn this around, to strip away the systemic problems that have been used to drag us into this mess, to renew the Constitution and government. But it’s much easier and much safer to do nothing. Party on. When they come for you and yours, though, don’t be a cry-baby. Take the squashing of your rights, freedoms, and liberties like a man.
People with democracy powers get the government they deserve. Just ask the survivors of Hitler’s Gotterdammerung, whose civil society gave up their democratic constitution in 1933.
Let’s start a pool for which 20 US population centers the Islamic hand-carried, suicide WMDs will nail first.
