African-Am. commentator paid by Dept. of Ed to promote NCLB

USA Today eduction reporter Greg Toppo, wrote this lovely story today about how the Bush Admin. has been pushing the "positives" of No Child Left Behind to the African-American community.
Seeking to build support among black families for its education reform law, the Bush administration paid a prominent black pundit $240,000 to promote the law on his nationally syndicated television show and to urge other black journalists to do the same.

What an outrage…. Too bad the Dept. of Ed. didn’t see fit to fund their own underfunded program with that $240K….

Well, you have to wonder about a Federal program that has to pay people to sell itself.  If it were truly a beneficial education program, it’s successes would speak for themselves.
