A Bitter Brew at Starbucks
Maybe it's the Great Recession, or perhaps the National Labor Relations Board, but Starbucks is taking a lot of heat. The World’s largest coffee retailer is now the subject of a viral campaign: The Stop Starbucks website posted this video chronicling the company's union-busting activities:
Apparently, being rated one of the best places to work by Fortune magazine has convinced Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz that his employees really don’t need a union. Now if he could only force his workers and the incorrigible Starbucks Workers Union to see eye-to-eye. Anti-EFCA lobbyists and firings might help. But Howie, did we really need to suggest those tactics?

Starbucks is one of my favorite places to drink coffee, when I can afford it. After viewing the video and learning more about their blatantly anti-union practices, I shall take my business elsewhere!
Workers deserve three basic things:
1) decent wages & benefits, 2) Respect, 3) justice on the job
No union means none of these basic needs will ever get met. For me it’s very simple; UNIONS are needed!
EFCA when passed will help us improve our lives, the lives of our families and our communities? What’s so bad about that?
