Note that PBS in some markets carries BBC news, which is quite excellent (although i do prefer written news to tv news, since it is easier to skip around).
To call Moore a truth teller, is, well, an interesting turn of a phrase. He is a hack, but a rich one.
Clearly someone at CNN just wanted to feed off of the controversy that the conservative pundits will create over the release “Sicko” because the truth scares them so. There is hardly any “news” on television anymore, though PBS does try. Michael Moore should be heralded for his fearless truth-telling, but the obvious next step of the lockstep right is to excoriate Moore for his “poor behaviour” in “attacking” Wolf Blitzer who was merely trying to do his job. Note that nobody stood up for Dan Rather when he tried to get Bush, Sr. to answer questions regarding that administration’s illegal deeds. Unfortunately for those of us who would prefer a more reasoned debate, it is time for the left to fight back using the same methods that have proven so successful for the propagandists on the right. And so it goes…
I just watched the video: clearly some one at CNN believes that Micheal Moore deserves to be heard. Lou Dobbs clearly doesn’t believe that Micheal Moore deserves a fair hearing. Lou should be fired! Wolf Blitzer took a beating because Moore used the only tactic that seems to have any chance of working: shout over the opposition. Isn’t it terrible that the ‘news’ has come to this?
And then there was blogging: The ITT List offers all the news that isn't fit to print, from In These Times's staff, writers and friends.
