Any farm can be sustainable if you are do not need to make a profit. When reading "successful farming" magazines I find that almost every one featured has a wife who is a nurse, school teacher or post master. Others farm family land (or have another business) and never had to make a land or house payment. I would not have lost my farm if my wife had simply worked at a minimum wage job.
