You were put out of business by hobby farms and rich gits farming huge tax deductions, this drove the price of farms will beyond their ability to generate a return on that investment. They don't care, it made it easier and cheaper for corporate farmers to buy out small bankrupt farmers, so not by accident but specifically done on purpose to drive you and other like you off their farms. Many small farms out on bigs, ioh yeah, it's called feudalism and is currently being practised in many farming industries, infinite greed, infinite suffering.
Any farm can be sustainable if you are do not need to make a profit. When reading "successful farming" magazines I find that almost every one featured has a wife who is a nurse, school teacher or post master. Others farm family land (or have another business) and never had to make a land or house payment. I would not have lost my farm if my wife had simply worked at a minimum wage job.
