Maia McDonald is a Chicago-based freelance journalist who’s reported for Block Club Chicago, Borderless Magazine, City Bureau, The TRiiBE and other outlets. You can find her on X, formerly known as Twitter, at @maiamcdonld and her website at maiam​c​don​ald​.me.

She’s previously reported on Illinois’ labor laws and the temporary service industry as a Fall 2022 Civic Reporting Fellow at City Bureau and most recently was the InPathways Community Reporting Intern at Borderless Magazine, which reports on and about immigrants living in and around Chicago.
