Molly Crabapple's Next Major Project Is With In These Times
The celebrated artist and bestselling author of Here Where We Live Is Our Country will be the magazine’s first Artist-at-Large in our 50-year history.

Molly Crabapple is one of the fiercest artists working today. She draws the left: the picket line, working people, the resistance to ICE, and the border. She draws them as reporting, as storytelling, and as movement work — not decoration.
She just wrote a bestselling book. Her next big project is with us.
I’m proud to announce that Molly is joining In These Times as our first Artist-at-Large, a role created in partnership with the Puffin Foundation. We will be a primary home for Molly’s work, which will be in every issue of the print magazine starting this fall, and regularly on the website. Her art will not merely sit beside our journalism. It will be a main part of our journalism.
I’ve collaborated with Molly for the better part of a decade, first around education for Rethinking Schools in 2017, and most recently in response to the killing of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. If you are one of the few who are unfamiliar with Molly’s work, a thing to know is she does not pull punches — and neither do we.
For 50 years, In These Times has focused on working people and stayed with the movements the rest of the media ignores between news cycles.
