South African Labor Union Calls Off Strikes to Protect Workers

SABC Digital News reports that the South African union federation Cosatu has called off the farm workers’ strikes that have led to deadly clashes with police and claimed at least two lives since October. Strikers were demanding a minimum daily wage of 150 rand ($17).
