Angela Caputo joined The Chica­go Reporter staff to cov­er hous­ing and crim­i­nal jus­tice issues in 2010. Before join­ing the Reporter, Caputo worked at Progress Illi­nois, a polit­i­cal news blog, where she was a recip­i­ent of the Studs Terkel Award in 2010. Pri­or to Progress Illi­nois, she worked for the Sun-Times News Group pro­duc­ing award-win­ning inves­tiga­tive pieces for the Dai­ly South­town and Lern­er News­pa­pers. She is the recip­i­ent of the Salute to Excel­lence Award by the Nation­al Asso­ci­a­tion of Black Jour­nal­ists and Peter Lis­agor awards for Best In-depth and Best Edu­ca­tion report­ing. She grad­u­at­ed from Colum­bia Col­lege Chica­go in 2004 with a mas­ter’s degree in journalism.
