Joel M. Batterman is a Ph.D. student in urban and regional planning at the University of Michigan. He lives in Detroit and serves as co-chair of the board of directors of the Motor City Freedom Riders, an organization of Detroit bus riders and allies working for expanded public transit. He also recently created the Greyhound Riders Union, currently a small Facebook group but with grand hopes of expansion.
