Martha Bion­di is an asso­ciate pro­fes­sor of African-Amer­i­can Stud­ies at North­west­ern Uni­ver­si­ty and author of To Stand and Fight: The Strug­gle for Civ­il Rights in Post­war New York City, pub­lished by Har­vard Uni­ver­si­ty Press. She is cur­rent­ly writ­ing a book on black stu­dent protest and the ori­gins of African-Amer­i­can studies.
