Ron Fre­und is Direc­tor of Cor­po­rate Respon­si­bil­i­ty for the Social Equi­ty Group, an invest­ment firm based in Berke­ley, Calif. He has been involved in share­hold­er efforts to reform cor­po­rate poli­cies for more than 20 years and has writ­ten for or been inter­viewed by numer­ous elec­tron­ic and print media, includ­ing the New York Times, Crain’s Busi­ness, the San Fran­cis­co Chron­i­cle and Barron’s.

At the Social Equity Group, Freund works with clients and organizations coordinating shareholder resolutions on social issues. He has traveled extensively to research corporate environmental and human rights practices, including to Russia, New Zealand and China. Most recently, he coordinated a corporate responsibility campaign for a California tobacco prevention coalition, for which he received a Community Leadership Award from the state’s Senate.
