The right's favorite boogeyman is still clearing his throat, adding a few points to his recent excellent In These Times article in a pair of Washington speeches yesterday:
"Not only did I never kill or injure another person, but the Weather Underground in its six-year existence never killed or injured another person," he said. "We did something that was extreme. Some of you would call it not only extreme but kind of nuts. You might call it off the track. You might call it crazy. You might call it defying of common sense. It was certainly illegal. To call it terrorism stretches the definition of terrorism to everything you don't approve of."
And:
"I don't for a minute want to harsh anybody's mellow," but "no president takes us to the promised land."
"We have to ask ourselves: Yes we can -- what?"
That is the question of the hour. And by hour, I mean the next four years.
