George “Remember The Alamo” Bush Sends National Guard Troops To Mexican Border

Brian Zick

Nedra Pickler for AP reports: Bush to Call for Guard Troops on Border. Bush is announcing deployment of thousands of National Guard troops along the border with Mexico - allegedly to aid the undermanned border patrol, which in his budget he refused to adequately fund in the first place. It's a desperate and dangerous pander to the racist wing of the GOP. Lawmakers from both parties have expressed their displeasure. A statement from the office of Mexican President Vicente Fox said he told Bush he was worried about any possible U.S. move to "militarize" the roughly 2,000-mile border, one of the longest unfortified frontiers in the world. Sentient Republican Chuck Hagel is one who has voiced criticism, when he appeared on "This Week" this morning. Crooks and Liars has the video. Georgia 10 at dailykos provides some overall analysis.
