If the written word has worn you down, head on over to the National Radio Project's website, which today (in perfect coordination with InTheseTimes.com!) posted an in-depth radio version of Stelzer's story. You can listen to the piece, called "State of Fear: Arizona's Immigrant Crackdown," here.
It's radio at its best: full of dramatic ambient audio (like protests) and outspoken interviewees, but well-paced by Stelzer's thoughtful narration. The 30-minute piece is broken into two parts for easy aural digestion.
(The story is for "Making Contact," Oakland, CA-based National Radio Project's 30-minute nationally-syndicated public affairs radio show. I'm embarrassed to admit I hadn't heard of the National Radio Project, which is, like In These Times, a member of The Media Consortium.)
