The Most Brutal Rape Epidemic In the World

Jarrett

Jeffrey Gettlemen dispatched a gruesome, truly sickening report on the rape epidemic occurring right now in the Congo in yesterday's New York Times. Women and young girls gang-raped so violently their reproductive systems can not be repaired are flooding into local hospitals at such a rate they have to release women still recovering back to their villages. The Nation covered this epidemic almost four years ago, and their cover story this week focuses on the Congo again, but it's something I guess that the Times is taking such detailed notice. I would that the rest of the media would follow suit. It's important to read the whole article, but be forewarned: it's difficult to get through.
