Zoe Lofgren issued a press release headlined "Homeland Security Committee Members Question Legality of Newly Reported NSA Domestic Monitoring Program." Lofgren, who is Ranking Member of the Intelligence, Information Sharing and Terrorism Risk Assessment Subcommittee, and Bennie Thompson, who is Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, state that "when the Attorney General was forced to testify before the House Judiciary Committee a few weeks ago, he misled the Committee about the existence of the program."
Lofgren is also calling for a Special Counsel to be appointed to investigate the NSA surveillance activity.
Paul Kiel at TPM Muckraker cites the specific exchange between Gonzalez and Gerald Nadler, in the testimony transcript.
