Barney Frank: Bush Post-Katrina Policy Is “Ethnic Cleansing by Inaction”

Brian Zick

Matt Stoller at MyDD has posted a video clip from a speech by Barney Frank, in which the new Chair of the Financial Services Committee states that the Bush administration goal is to make Louisiana richer, whiter - and more Republican. And in pursuit of thereof, the policy of doing virtually nothing in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina amounts to "ethnic cleansing by inaction." Matt additionally reports: Frank also discussed the budget in the context of Iraq and Katrina, and executive pay. He wants a law passed that allows shareholders to vote on the pay that executives receive, which is a great way to restore public participation in corporate America and reign in managerial abuses.
