Fitzmas Update 6/2/06

Paul Kiel at TPM Muckraker reports that Judge Walton has given Team Libby some bad news: The trial will be about lying. Nothing else. Not Joe Wilson. Not Niger. Not Iraq. Just whether Scooter lied or not. Obstruction of justice, false statements, and perjury. Sayeth Judge Reggie: "… the only question the jury will be asked to resolve in this matter will be whether the defendant intentionally lied when he testified before the grand jury and spoke with FBI agents… this Court will not permit it to become a forum for debating the accuracy of Ambassador Wilson’s statements, the propriety of the Iraq war or related matters leading up to the war… " D.C. District Court's Ruling in Libby Case 06-02-2006
