IG Report: HUD Secretary Illegally Favored Bush Loyalists While Denying Contracts to Bush Opponents
Brian Zick
The Inspector General for the Department of Housing and Urban Development has issued a report -- but refused to release the report to the public -- which details that Housing Secretary Alphonso Jackson personally blocked government contracts to bidders critical of President Bush (notably Democrats), even though awarding contracts based on political views is a violation of federal law.
Think Progress has acquired an executive summary of the report.
Henry Waxman in the House and Frank Lautenberg in the Senate have already called on Jackson to resign immediately.
