Martiga Lohn for AP reports that Minnesota State lawmaker Keith Ellison, who converted to Islam while in college, won the Democratic primary for the seat being vacated by retiring Democrat Matin Sabo. The seat is considered safely Democratic, so Ellison will be heavily favored to win in November. He would be the first Muslim to serve in Congress.
