Olbermann Mourns the Death of Habeas Corpus, Killed by the GOP

Crooks and Liars has the video. One of the provisions of the recently rushed legislation titled "The Military Commissions Act of 2006" is to dispense with this fundamental right - a citizen's right to appear before a court to determine whether or not s/he has been imprisoned with due process - a right explicitly guaranteed by the Constitution. The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.
