Outing DC

Tracy Van Slyke

Interesting article in the Independent/UK a couple days ago. A couple of guys have taken it upon themselves to "out" Congressional members and Senators along with their respective staffers who supported or didn't speak out in opposition to the federal ban against same-sex marriages. Michael Rogers is one of the people who have taken it upon themselves to wage this controversial campaign. You can check out his blog to see who he's outed so far. I'm not quite sure how I feel about this campaign. On one hand, it's important to expose the "hypocrisy," of many of these power players as Rogers says. But I believe it is also fundamentally important for people to make their own decision about whether they are going to come out to the public. This is a hard and often costly decision for many people (unfortunately). I'm on the fence on this one.
