Scotty Scurries Off The Sinking Ship

Brian Zick

Scotty has resigned and Fox is reporting that Tony Snow may be his replacement as WH press secretary. Josh Marshall comments on the whole alleged "shake-up" pretense: "In all seriousness, I think the real story here continues to be that things are so bad at the White House, the level of denial and secrets to be kept, the self-bamboozlement and bad-faith so profound, that they just can't manage to bring in any new blood." … "Finally, can they find anyone on the outside who wants in?" Atrios simplys asks Who The Hell Is That Stupid? update: On last night's O’Reilly Factor, Scotty's potential shoe-filler Tony Snow attributed high gas prices to “people complaining about Donald Rumsfeld.” Myself, I'd actually be surprised if Snow took the gig. He's got a cushy job with a comfy fat paycheck and he doesn't have a big target painted daily on his ass. I guess I just don't imagine him to be that much of a terminal masochist.
