Kos talks about the power of early fundraising.
The further in advance we can start helping out the campaigns we like and support, the more the campaigns will benefit in the end. The impulse is always to contribute at the end of a race, when the excitement of the moment sweeps us up. And that's great. Campaigns could always use the money. But the earlier we participate, the further that money goes.
Steve Gilliard adds:
It isn't just buzz, early money means more staff, who get regular paychecks and more time to work on what they can do in the field and who can kick in cash on a regular basis. When we can turn shoestring campaigns into well-funded campaigns, we also affect how the GOP spends their money. Every dime going to George Allen is one dime not going to Rick Santorum. Early money can change the dynamics of races.
