The LA Times has a 4 page story on Bettie Page today!!!
I first became acquainted with images of Ms Page in 1973, and had a fairly difficult time tracking down copies of the fetishist publications of the 1950s in which she appeared. Bob Blue was one of the first painters to make her the subject of his work. Olivia DeBerardinis followed, and began producing a whole lotta Bettie pictures. Several years later, Bettie became centrally featured in comics, and the whole cult thing really exploded.
Jeff Rund was a NY art collector who knew Page, and who also knew Olivia when she was first starting out. Rund published a batch of magazine size collections of Bettie photographs, which he had acquired, the covers of which were painted by a very very very young Todd Schorr.
