Watergategate: When Competing GOP Electoral Interests Collide

Brian Zick

Justin Rood at TPM Muckraker reports that GOP chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Peter King (from New York), is mighty peeved about the Shirlington Limo $21 million dollar deal with the Department of Homeland Security. And Representative King is also exceedingly miffed by the department's highly publicized - and transparently election-year motivated - slash of security funds for New York. Justin quotes from King's appearance on Hardball this past Thursday: "I’m at war with the Department of Homeland Security." And then observes, "It takes guts to cut funding to a Congressman's state when he's sitting on a pile of corruption allegations about you, and holds the power to subpoena your documents and testimony." --- And, well, I suppose "guts" would be one possibility.
