Check out this this great piece of reporting by Max Blumenthal in The American Prospect Online It's about the myriad connections between white supremacist groups and the GOP's anti-immigrant faction. I'm currently working on a story about the internal divisions within the GOP on immigration and how Bush has cravenly caved to the extremists, refusing to back some excellent legislation for fear of reprisals from the nativists. You'll notice at the convention, that while "immigrants" are constantly invoked, immigration policy is never mentioned.
