A space for political community as we continue to process what happened and what’s to come.
It’s easy to want to turn inward right now, as a genocide goes unchecked and we watch the ascension to power of an aspiring fascist.
But it’s at times like these that we need political community more than ever. In These Times is committed to providing that space for connection when it’s all too easy to let ourselves be divided, isolated and disempowered.
And so I’m reaching out to simply hear from you. This is an invitation to share your thoughts and feelings as you grapple with the election and what lies ahead.
Your response may be chosen to run in a special Community section of the next issue of In These Times.
We don’t have all the answers right now — and we don’t believe anyone who pretends to — but we’re committed to co-traveling with our readers and doing the work that needs to be done as it arises.
There’s every indication a second Trump presidency will be less ineffectual, and therefore more calamitous, than the first. Trump’s promised economic policies will worsen the economic pain of working-class people —and the only tool he has is to redirect anger at the most vulnerable among us. We will be there to defend them and tell a different story about who’s to blame.
And we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for the vehicles that have the ability to unite our struggles and help us chart a new path out of the political wilderness.
